So far we've learned some basic CGI skills, including reading
and writing to a server file, i.e. counting page hits, and
reading and writing to a browser cookie. We've also learned
how to use FTP, Telnet, set permissions, and do some basic
debugging. Next we'll start to look at generating HTML on
the fly using CGI and Perl. Therein lies the real power
of CGI programming!
